Being Healthy

The next module that the Infant Department will be completing in order to be awarded the Herts. Quality Standards will focus on Being Healthy.  For children to develop and grow they need a healthy lifestyle.  The module suggests that parents should be;

  • confident that their children’s well being and health are being provided for
  • consulted on menu choices
  • given opportunities to work with staff to meet their children’s health needs.
  • given information about promoting a healthy lifestyle.

The Infant department should;

  • provide a healthy lifestyle for the children
  • provide healthy meals and snacks
  • ensure children have access to play in the fresh air
  • encourage children to participate in a range of physical activities
  • be trained in first aid
  • maintain high standards of hygiene
  • help children learn about a healthy lifestyle through their play

and the children should;

  • enjoy a healthy lifestyle
  • have plenty of opportunity to play outside
  • be physically active
  • eat a wide range of healthy foods
  • begin to understand how their bodies work and how to keep healthy
  • practice the basics of good hygiene
  • be able to express their feelings
  • have their feelings acknowledged by caring staff

Any comments about the following points will be gratefully received.

How does Woolgrove meet your child’s emotional needs?

How is your child made aware of a healthy lifestyle?

What information are you given about healthy lifestyles?

How does Woolgrove support children’s well being?

Are there any areas of being healthy you would like to see improved?

Thank you for your support in helping us to make the Infant Department the best it can be and to achieve the HQS.
